Ahhh... Biarritz. I'll never forget my first time rolling into Biarritz on two wheels. I was traveling and riding with a group, and we were powering out of the Pyrenean foothills in a pace line. I was focused on the wheel in front of me and missed everything until the city streets opened to an expansive Atlantic Ocean. Surfers. Crashing waves. The smell of the sea. We arrived at a glitzy hotel, and later I made my way into small alleys and found beautiful Basque linens. I hauled them home in the form of tablecloths for my mom and grandma. I probably would have also carried beach furniture and a few pair of espadrilles, too, had I been able to squeeze them into my luggage. I think it's time to go back.
